Lilongwe, Malawi: President Prof. Peter Mutharika will leave the country for Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe on Saturday to attend the 34th Ordinary Meeting of the SADC Heads of State and Government scheduled for August 17 and 18, 2014.

According to press release from State House, made available to Malawi News Agency (Mana) Mutharika will depart Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe at 10.00 am.

During the summit, the Malawi leader will present a report as an outgoing Sadc Chairperson on the activities undertaken during the period under review as well as handover the chairmanship to President Comrade Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe.

“The Malawi chairmanship was held under the theme” agriculture development and agro-industries: key economic growth and poverty eradication in the SADC region” reads part of the statement.

The Zimbabwe’s Chairmanship will be under the theme: “SADC strategy for economic transformation: leveraging the region’s diverse resources for sustainable economic and social Development through beneficiation and value addition.’’
