Malawi: Football yet again united all political parties and their supporters today as the Flames played against Chad. Malawi national football team, the Flames , on Saturday began their campaign to reach the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco with a 2-0 win over visiting Chad in a match played at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Rodrick Gonani and Chimango Kayira were left with the mantle to keep the midfield boiling with Gonani as the attacking midfielder while Kayira was the holding midfielder.The Flames, without their midfield kingpin Robert Ng’ambi struggled to contain the visitors in the first half, as their middle of the park was dis-organised.

He opened the scoring after just seven minutes and added the second in the 69th.The hero of the day was enterprising pint-sized striker Gabadinho Mhango , who plays for Bloemfontein Celtic in South Africa. Mhango scored both goals of the first round first leg tie .

In defence, Flames coach Young Chimodzi relied on Harry Nyirenda and John Lanjesi as central defenders, while Moses Chavula and Bashir Maunde were given the task to man wings.

On the right flank, John Banda was the main man while fantastic captain Joseph Kamwendo operated from the left flank.
There were a few changes with Frank Banda being introduced for Gonani while injured John Banda was substituted for Mecium Mhone.Infront, the task to bang in goals was left in the hands of Mhango and Atusaye Nyondo.

,Flames coach Young Chimodzi halied his troops for accelerating the gear in the second half more specifically Gabadihno for the two goals.

“We were a little bit shaken in the first half but l must commend my boys for coming hard in the second half. We will rectify some of the problems which we encountered before the return match in two weeks,” said Chimodzi.

The two clash in the second leg in two weeks time to decide who will play either Benin or Sao Tome Principe.

The overall winners will claim a spot in Group B of the Nations Cup qualifiers alongside Algeria, Ethiopia and Mali.
