Malawi speaker of parliament Henry Chimunthu Banda has declared his interest in contesting for the top position of DPP President.

Chimunthu Banda confirmed to Zodiak radio  “ It is true that I will contest for the position at the convention. I have consulted my family and fellow party members who have all been supportive.  I have therefore decided to submit my application,”

Banda went on to say that democracy has matured in Malawi, democracy is giving people the freedom of choice to choose their leaders, DPP members have been given that choice and they will decide during the convention.

The speaker declared that he is the right person to lead the party  as he has held different positions at all levels, district, regional, and national. He said he is a tried and tested  member of DPP.

The Speaker of Parliament called for transparency on the day of the convention and in all the processes towards the indaba.
