Vice President Khumbo Kachali has declared that “politics has begun” and that the country should now switch into campaign mode, saying “there will be campaign without borders.”

The statement was made at a rally in Mangochi. The PP rally was took place just a day before the DPP rally which will take place in Blantyre on Sunday the 11 November.

Soon after the launch PP gurus launched an attack on the coalition rivals, UDF presidential candidate who is also the minister of Economics and planning was on the receiving end. Member of Parliament for Mangochi South constituency Yusuf Matumula attacked Muluzi, saying during his reign he failed to end poverty and to develop the country.

Matumula said Malawians should not allow “another Muluzi” to rule the country, in apparent reference to Atupele.

He said PP is strong and can win Atupele’s Machinga North East constituency in a by-election if he were to succumb to “stomachache” – God Forbid!

President Banda who spoke in local Yao language, also joined the attacking spree by insinuating that Mangochi “should not be cheated by someone who does not come from the district or cannot speak Yao.”

The road to 2014 is indeed on the way, it is steep and tough. Parties and politicians will fight along the way. Malawians are yet to see how the government of Banda will treat its coalition partners in government.
